I wanted the badge, plus I figured it'd be fun since dA has been such a big thing in my liiiiiiife. Four years worth. God damn.
When I first found deviantART, I was still only a young, naive child. I was only eleven, going on twelve, and found dA through an image search for Pokémon art to copy with only paper and pen. Being banned from YouTube by my parents until I was thirteen, it was my only pass time. It was amazing to me, seeing endless pages of new art, animations, and games of characters I loved. It was glorious! However, it was a certain artist that inspired me to join.pichu90
Was the first artist I truly admired. At the time, I saw his art as the pinnacle of all art, and that there was nothing better. Granted, that was an exaggerated opinion at the time, but I was not very mature at the time, so I was very...dramatic, to put it simply!pichu90
, as I said, was the catalyst to my start as an artist. I didn't care that I was under aged, or that my only resources were printer paper, markers, and a scanner. I wanted my art out there too, like my idols! Over the span of a year or so, I continued to make my sad excuse for art, and commenting on others artwork with crude and rather childish words (I still regret a LOT of things I said, and hope those people forgave me
). After a while of this, however, I felt like something I was doing was wrong (art wise and attitude wise). Being more polite was easy, but my art wasn't like others. Theirs was digital, and mine was at the level of a child T^T . I started using MSPaint, but that didn't look good either after some time. That's when I got my first tablet.
I noticed my friend (who was also my first friend on here!) FrightFox
's work, and a lot of other artists as well, had such a different look than MSPaint. What were they doing I wasn't?
I wondered. After some digging, I figured out that people generally use anything BUT MSPaint, and they use a tablet. So, got on that bandwagon, and have been hopping around art programs ever since.
I've had lots of different influence for art work, from realistic artists to cartoonists and anime artists (WAY too many to list like hello Zodiac, clean up your watched list). But, I think the two biggest influences were The Secret Saturdays and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Whilst Pokémon and the like was my choice of subject for most of my "drawings", TSS was what sparked my interest in actually drawing, along with my love for creatures, beasts, and the mythological. It's still my favorite cartoon to this day (AND I STILL NEED TO DRAW MORE FAN ART AND STUFF FOR IT), and I hope I can one day animate something just as good c: .
MLP: FiM is my most recent muse, along with a lot of other artists. I have been drawing ponies so much, I can 100% honestly say that ponies has changed my style of art numerous, NUMEROUS times. It's bananas.
Overall, dA and it's community are the best thing could ever happen to me. I've made a few friends, tried a few things, and ultimately found where I belong.
Holy shit that was long and cheesy. But that's how I write I guess
